My whole life, I have tried to reach a little higher, do something significant, as in really BIG. Then one day, the principle "Think globally, but act locally" hit me with new force. My BIG doesn't need to be cosmic, international or even attention-getting. It can be right here where I am right now. If I am to serve the God of small things, I need be a good steward of the immediate. Personally, I need to be responsible for using words as well as I can. That's my vocation. For writers, this borders on the heroic: writing and speaking well, and making a small positive difference, one word at a time. It's a redemptive thought and can even be humorous. Maybe.
